Job Description

Based in Bloemfontein, we are a subsidiary of the Raubex Group. We are currently seeking a proactive and knowledgeable IR Officer to join our team. If you have a strong background in labour relations, conflict resolution, and HR compliance, we would love to hear from you. This role offers a market-related salary and the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be based at our head office in Bloemfontein and will play a key role in supporting our HR and operational teams.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or similar.

• Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, OHSA).

• Minimum of five (5) years of working experience in industrial relations.

• Experience in the construction and building industry will be highly advantageous.

•Computer literate, in Microsoft Office.

•Proven experience in handling disciplinary hearings, grievances, and dispute resolution.

• Efficient communicator in English and Afrikaans, any additional languages will be highly advantageous.

• Required Competencies:

o Administrative, writing, organizational, communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, intercultural dealings, adaptability, quality management, dependability, and initiative.

o Highly motivated, structured, and resilient.

• No criminal record.

• Valid driver’s license and own transport.

• Able to travel extensively.

• South African citizen

JOB SPECIFICATION

•Support and advise managers on difficult people issues. Working closely with trade

unions and employee representatives, and consulting with them to resolve complex people issues.  

•Facilitate bulk HR inductions for new site labour employees in collaboration with site clerks and Contract Managers.

•Advise and assist management in handling disciplinary matters, including issuing warnings, conducting disciplinary enquiries, and managing BCCEI cases.

•Facilitate retrenchment processes in accordance with legal and procedural requirements.

•Review contractual documents to ensure compliance and relevance.

•Represent the company at CCMA and Bargaining Council hearings and manage dispute resolution processes.

•Interpret, enforce, and administer Bargaining Council collective agreements.

•Liaise with various Bargaining Councils on labour-related matters.

•Facilitate grievance hearings, appeals, and incapacity investigations.

•Manage overtime exemption applications through the relevant Bargaining Councils.

•Develop and maintain the Industrial Action Contingency Plan (e.g., strikes).

•Engage in dispute resolution and liaise with SMMEs, communities, and participate in PSC meetings.

•Draft, review, and manage SLA and labour agreements on site, including community-related matters.

•Implementing employment equity plans and meetings

•Managing the relationship between the business and unions or employee bodies.

•Managing consultations and negotiations.

•Dealing with disputes appropriately.

•Ensuring managers are upskilled to deal with people in a fair and effective manner.

•Overseeing all people practices ensuring they are legally compliant.

•Reporting and maintaining records.

•Providing guidance and advice on Department of Employment and Labour inspections, relating to BCEA, OHSA etc.

•To assist and support Line Management in dealing with poor performance and misconduct issues by giving advice on how best to deal with employment related issues, preparing and approving charges.

•Contributing to the development of IR related guidelines, policies and procedures.
