Job Description

Based in Bloemfontein, we are a subsidiary of the Raubex Group. We are looking for a manager who will be working on site within the Renewables Energy Business Unit within Raubex Infra.

The Manager will be responsible for on site management of solar PV and or Wind BoP projects in South Africa, including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance; cost, quality, programme, integration, stakeholders, suppliers/ subcontractors, logistics and security. This position is regarded as a hands–on, site based management role.

Reporting to the Operations Director or Projects Director, the candidate will assist to manage the commercial and operational requirements of a project. Ensure that all contractual requirements are met in terms of achieving deadlines and completing projects on time, within budget. Ensure all the necessary notifications, supporting documents/ records are submitted for contractual claims, compliant with contracts. Monthly measurements of completed and approved works; and compilation of payment certificates with the QS, contractual claims/ variations, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

•Minimum 15 years’ experience in construction management utility scale Solar PV or Wind projects.

•SACPCMP registration and/ or MV/HV certification desirable.

•Must be able to demonstrate a decent understanding of a Construction management role.

•Good interpersonal skills and a team player

•Experience of working within the South African Renewable Energy sector.

•Extensive knowledge of construction, production and team management, programming and planning.

•Proficient with construction management (control and monitoring) tools, MS Project, MS Office, etc. and construction regulations.

•Extensive knowledge and skills in management of resources such as plant, people, materials and fuel.

•Develop method statements in collaboration with Quality Officers.

•Demonstrable experience in the management of local labour and specialized Subcontractors.

•Manage suppliers in terms of quality, quantity and timeous deliveries.

•Responsible for contract allowable management in conjunction with allocated quantity surveyors.

•Manage quality plans, systems and inspections in conjunction with supporting staff.

•Sound knowledge of construction contracts such as Fidic, GCC, NEC, JBCC and Bespoke contracts.

•Strong administrative skills to ensure company systems and processes are implemented.

•Conversant in preparing monthly progress reports.

•Conversant in preparation of weekly production forecasts and planning.

•Detailed knowledge with Standards, Drawings and Commercial conditions of contract.

•Experienced in construction risk management and mitigation.

•Coordinating activities with civils and or mechanical installation teams.

•Facilitate works inspection with client representatives.

•Ensure compliance to all SHEQ regulations and applicable compliance obligations, safety and quality control.

•Lead and facilitate teamwork to ensure efficiency, profitability and meet deadlines.

•Team player with demonstrable leadership qualities.

•Demonstrable ability to perform under pressure.

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

•A valid Driver's License and own reliable transport

JOB SPECIFICATION

•Reporting to the Operations Director or Projects Director, the manager is accountable for the successful on-site execution of construction projects from construction planning and execution.

•Formal construction management in accordance with company procedures & processes, legislation, standards and industry best practice; including technical, cost, programme, quality, HSE and relevant stakeholders.

•Liaise with clients, owners engineers, Eskom, local communities, suppliers, subcontractors and relevant project stakeholders to ensure successful project outcome.

•Adopt, implement and improve where necessary the Raubex Infra construction management procedures/ processes to minimize project risk ;and maximize performance and profitability.

•Motivate and manage the electrical construction team, define and monitor achievement of production targets, whilst ensuring SHEQ compliance.

•Responsible for notices, permits and authorisations during construction.

•Monthly internal and external project reporting.

•Manage and mitigate electrical construction risks.

•Site administration according to company requirements.

•Record keeping and document control.

•Preparation and submission of quality data packs, facilitate client inspections and sign off.

•Develop method statements & risk assessments for client approval.

•Develop and update applicable forecasts such as materials, plant, and human resource requirements.

•Responsible for ensuring construction allowable is achieved and weekly reporting thereof.

•Participate and prepare relevant cost detail for monthly cost meetings.

•Appoint and manage subcontractors and suppliers.

•Manage subcontractors and suppliers.

•Review all external inspection and audit reports with regards to safety and quality and ensure the rectification of Non-Conformances, adjust current practices to mitigate future recurrences.

•Attend or facilitate meetings, as required, with site personnel, sub-contractors, suppliers and clients to ensure efficient co-ordination in accordance with compliance obligations.

•Enforce the requirements of company safety campaigns.

•Ensure all electrical resources are skilled and competent for their allocated tasks, identify gaps and training needs.

•Notify and work with Operations Director or Projects Director and Quantity Surveyor of all pending VO’s, claims and opportunities that may arise (EOT and other) and insurance claims.

•Enforce the requirements of company safety campaigns.

•Ensure all project personnel are skilled and competent for their allocated tasks, identify gaps and training needs.

•Ensure a development plan is in place for employees and performance standards are assessed yearly through KPI’s with Management.

•Evaluating the performance, the construction team and instituting disciplinary measures as needed.

•Participate in the continual improvement and evolution of the Raubex Infra Management System.

•In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, the Snr Construction Manager is required to carry out other duties that are in essence part of his area of activity, according to his knowledge and abilities as instructed by the Business Unit Directors.

•Facilitate the development and approval of site documentation specific to the context of each project, mentor site personnel to ensure that developed documents accurately reflect the works on site. Where no quality officer is appointed to the project the manager shall assume the role of quality representative.

•Verify the archiving process regarding SHEQ project records is as per the requirements of the Raubex Management System

•In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, the Manager is required to carry out other duties that are in essence part of their area of activity, according to their knowledge and abilities as instructed by the Construction Manager.
